URBAN ARTS CAMPUS: 70 Young Artists, 190 Artworks, Endless Inspiration

The HALLENKUNST URBAN ARTS CAMPUS 2026 has officially wrapped up at Garagencampus Chemnitz, and the energy from the week (05.07.2026 - 12.07.2026) is still buzzing.
Over six action-packed workshop days, our venue transformed into a thriving studio for 70 kids and teenagers aged 8 to 18. The primary goal of the week was simple yet ambitious: unlock creative potential, teach practical artistic skills, and give the next generation of creators a genuine platform to discover and express their own visual voice.
Throughout the week, the learning went far beyond basic sketching on paper. Under expert guidance like Video & Sckre, Hera of Herakut, Lars Teichmann or Omsk167, the participants dove deep into the fundamentals and technical nuances of urban and visual art. They started with classic typography and lettering, learning the roots of style design, letter structure, and overall composition. From there, they moved into spatial rendering, mastering how to create three-dimensional depth, control light, and build realistic shadow work. They also learned the precise art of stencil making, designing their own concepts from scratch, cutting them with precision, and applying them onto various surfaces.
Hands-on practice was at the heart of every single day. The youth got their hands dirty with actual spray cans on large-scale walls, learning the mechanics of pressure control, how different caps affect line width, and how to execute clean faded gradients. Beyond traditional walls and canvases, sustainability played a big role in the program through textile upcycling. The kids brought old fabrics and clothing, learning how to redesign, print, and transform forgotten garments into unique pieces of wearable art.
By the end of the six days, the collective output was extraordinary, yielding a total of 190 original artworks. The ultimate highlight arrived during the main exhibition weekend, where a curated selection of 80 pieces was professionally framed and displayed. Seeing their own work hanging in a full-scale exhibition space in front of hundreds of visitors was a monumental moment for these young artists, building real confidence and pride in their capabilities.
Projects like this remind us how impactful hands-on cultural youth education really is when young people are given trust, high-quality tools, and the freedom to experiment without boundaries.
