Public art is a powerful tool for creating a sense of place and strengthening our community. Art can attract us to public spaces, enliven our neighborhoods, enhance our experiences in parks, inform us about the history and peoples of our place, and celebrate our ethnic and cultural diversity.​

 

Since the beginning of 2024 and till September 2025 our Public Mural Program runs also because the artist we work with coming from the streets leaving their mark on walls for decades.  All these artists are preparing exciting art and works for HALLENKUNST, coming to Chemnitz for a one or two-week research periods as part of our Artist Residency, giving them the chance to do what they love most: create in public spaces.

 

This is where it all began for them. It's a perfect match for both our project and the residents of Chemnitz, as it ensures Chemnitz remains vibrant in a long run. HALLENKUNST will leave large-scale artistic impressions on the cityscape, serving as a lasting reminder of the magnificent European Capital of Culture year 2025.

 

Every artist involved in the Public Mural program provides a link to the artwork or performance realized within the Artists-in-Residency program  on display at the HALLENKUNST group exhibition August 28, 2025 to October 12, 2025.
