Following an extended stay at our CAMMANN Studios as part of the HALLENKUNST Artist Residency Program, the Freiberg-born artist ANDRÈ DELOAR has developed a new canvas series that relates to his homeland, because André has been living and working as a freelance artist in Zurich for many years now. The return to his home and the associated engagement have certainly opened up new perspectives for the artist, which can be seen in this series on display as part of HALLENKUNST from August 28th to September 21st at the Markthalle Chemnitz. An exciting first glimpse is offered by the exhibition "Shades of Purple Pink" at the Galerie Borssenanger (Wirkbau Chemnitz), starting June 6th, 2025!

Deloar's work features reduced, fragmented architectural segments in modern acrylic and oil paintings, focusing on their pure form. He uses models based on real buildings, speculatively completing unseen parts. His art isolates architectural elements, shifting them from functional to purely formal through perspective, distance, and segmentation, stripping away their intended purpose. Color acts as a building material, creating structures through layered application. This reduction of architecture to formal appearance is a theme in modern art, exploring the essence of a building beyond its function. Deloar's paintings question the threshold between mere construction and a meaningful building, prompting reflection on what defines a structure beyond its geometric form.
