MURAL BY VIDEO & SCKRE FOR GLOBAL JUSTICE & CLIMATE PROTECTION

Updated: 5 days ago

We are thrilled to welcome the artist collective VIDEO & SCKRE from Linz and Munich back to Chemnitz! After an intensive artist residency in our Cammann Studios and DERIX Glass Studios, in preparation for their group exhibition at the end of August, the two artists are now designing a façade on Uferstraße 26!.

Since July 2, 2025, this façade has been transforming into a large-scale canvas for global justice, created in collaboration with our partner Greenpeace, advocating for greater peace and climate protection.

The project is part of an international Greenpeace campaign with the residents of the Marshall Islands in the Pacific and is based on an appeal from the inhabitants of the Pacific island nation: the people around the Bikini Atoll, together with Greenpeace, are demanding attention and compensation for the consequences of decades of US nuclear weapons tests and the advancing climate crisis. Please read more here!

With this project, Chemnitz not only gains one fresh new public artwork, but we also highlight, right here in the heart of Europe, the Marshall Islands people's decades-long commitment to cultural self-determination and compensation. The mural will be completed on Monday, July 7th!

You can find a corresponding work by the artists, among many others, starting August 28, 2025, at HALLENKUNST in the Markthalle Chemnitz!
